Essentially enamelling is the process by which powdered glass is melted onto shaped pieces of metal in order to produce colourful items of jewellery and keep-sakes.

This is a simple, fun and creative activity suitable for adults and children of the age of 10 years and over.

How to create your own unique enamelled work of art...

Choose and prepare your copper blank. Clean both sides with an abrasive sponge and apply antiscale to the reverse side.

We have a range of copper blanks to choose from, including basic shapes (of varying sizes) and more novelty shapes such as an apple, a gekko or a penguin.

Decorate by sifting powdered glass (sprinkles) onto the front of the copper blank.

There are both opaque (totally solid in colour) and translucent (let light through to reveal the metal surface) powdered enamels, in a variety of colours, to choose from. As well as a selection of other decorating accessories such as coloured chips and millefiore.

'Fire' decorated copper piece in our small enamelling kiln for approx. 1-2 minute/s.

Remove the copper piece from the kiln and place on a heat resistant surface, allowing it to cool for a few minutes.

Finally, there is the opportunity to choose and attach a jewellery 'finding' to your enamelled copper piece.
